Research at Work
I got assigned to do research on CFRP aircraft stringer dimensions. I was excited because it was a break from my usual work, and I got to learn about stringers. But I was really sleepy from yesterday, so the research wasn't so fun.
During a lapse in concentration I went over to the other side of the room, divided by the computers, and talked to Lucky. He was not at all busy. He spent hours that day, waiting for orders, which is typical. I told him about my blog, and how it'd be funny if all I did in a day was write my blog. Then all I'd have to write about is writing my blog. I could spend a ton of words saying nothing.
I wonder, what's the point of my memories if all I remember is the act of remembering?
Lucky told me that spending a ton of words saying nothing is funny, but I don't want to actually pursue that. I think it's hilarious that he felt the need to clarify that for me. He knows me well enough.
Tennis with Alek
After work I played Tennis with Alek at 6:30. I called the courts ahead of time but there were no courts at 6:00 as planned. I stayed after work till about 5:15 because I went in slightly late in the morning. My plan was to drive home to change clothes but I skipped that. Instead opting to play in my chinos and button down shirt.
Alek offered me a pair of shorts to use but I declined. I don't mind playing in my chinos. The biggest reason stopping me from doing so is others heavily encouraging me not to do that.
Band with Xavier
I'm in a ragtag band with my two coworkers Xavier and Lucky. We jam out in my basement every once in a while. Today it was just Xavier. He brought his electric guitar and amp as usual. The majority of the session was us jamming out to improvised melodies.
I play Piano. Oftentimes I create a background bass with my left hand that provides a rhythm to keep us in time. Sometimes I'll use the metronome setting on my e-piano to anchor our rhythm too.
While playing around with the metronome I figured out it can do more than a constant monotone beat. There are presets for drum settings and different time signatures. I picked a 3/4 time signature. It was difficult at first because I could not quite figure out how to divide the beats to match the time signature. I kept defaulting to 4/4 while the 3/4 beat played in the background.
Xavier was a lot better than me at following the beat. He doesn't think too hard about the signature, he goes with the flow. That's what I tried to do with some success. I find that if I first count the time signature, play a basic chord progression or melody following it, then improvise off of that - I can get the flow of the beats with intuition.
The session started at around 8:45 since Xavier was a little late. We went on till about 10:00. After he left, I ate the Udon my older sister made, which I had been thinking about and craving the entire session.
Poop at Night
The Udon noodles made me need to go poop really bad. But I hate going to restroom to poop. So I held it in. Plus, I found an interesting book called "Case Study" by Arsenii. I bought the e-book on Amazon and was so absorbed reading it that going to the restroom could wait just a bit longer.
I read that book till around 4:00 or 5:00AM, farting the entire time. They were just small farts, and I stopped needing to go the restroom as bad after a while.
Now satisfied with reading I decided to use the restroom. There was unfortunately, a poop stain on my underwear. And the wiping was horrific. I will spare you the finer details of the event.
After pooping I bagged and tossed my underwear into the outdoor trashcan, lest it's foul odor infect the house's clean air. I showered, put my blanket and couch cushion cover I was laying on in the laundry, cleaned my laptop, and informed my workplace I would not make it tomorrow due to a "bowel issue".
I also saw my older sister in the now morning at 6:00AM, having just woken up. I saw her from the top of the stairs while I was at the bottom. I scared her. She asked "What are you doing up so late?" I informed her I had just pooped my pants.
Sleep
Clean, with no fecal matter, I went to bed. My butt was slightly itchy. I hoped that wasn't a sign it wasn't completely clean. I was pretty thorough in the shower though, so that gave me solace before I slept.
Mnemonic Image
The most memorable moments of today were talking about my blog with Lucky, Tennis in work clothes with Alek at 6:30, band session with Xavier, eating Udon, reading "Case Study", and pooping my pants.
My image will be of me jamming out on a piano with keys made out of poop with Xavier. Xavier's playing on a Tennis Racket made out of words.
Each image element corresponds to the following memory:
- poop-piano - I pooped my pants while reading "case study" after eating Udon
- Tennis racket made of words - I played Tennis Tennis with Alek at 6:30 and talked to Lucky about the pitfalls of blogging about writing the blog
- Jamming with Xavier - I had a band session with Xavier at ~8:45
